As a hunter or target shooter, sometimes you want to take the time to make a more stable setting for your gun. That’s when you need to consider using a bipod – a two-legged attachment that goes under the forepart of your rifle. The Sonicking adjustable rifle bipod is just such an aid. Sonicking 3-9×40 Rifle Scope: Amazing for the Price

Sonicking (which you should think of as “Sonic King”, not “sonick-ing”) offers a rifle scope that will barely put a crease in your wallet. You can easily find it for less than $50. At that price point, it’s certainly worth a first as well as a second look.

Other reviewers have found many positive points to make about it, so I’ll give you the details here along with some of their thoughts. I think this will be enough to convince you to at least give it a chance, again, especially considering the low cost. Continue reading “Sonicking 3-9×40 Rifle Scope: Amazing for the Price”

Best Augmented Reality Glasses: Is There Anything Worth Getting Yet?

Augmented reality is one of the latest buzz phrases in the world of advanced technology. It’s right up there with “virtual reality”, even though you may not be quite as familiar with it. When trying to determine which are the best augmented reality glasses at this point in time, it’s really worth asking the question: Is there anything worth buying yet?

You can group augmented reality (AR) technology into three areas of interest – enterprise (including business and developer uses), consumer, and specialty. (These are my own designations, so you may not find them elsewhere.) There is some overlap among these groups, but in general, it helps to know which target audience a certain piece of hardware is aimed at and to know whether or not you are in that audience.

Some of the optics discussed below are already available at Amazon. Others you can only get from the manufacturer, and a few, as of this writing, aren’t even available from them yet. Continue reading “Best Augmented Reality Glasses: Is There Anything Worth Getting Yet?”

CVLIFE makes more than a dozen different styles of rifle scopes. You can find many of them (as of this writing) here on Amazon. The question is whether or not CVLIFE rifle scopes are worth even a little of your money.

In this overview and review of CVLIFE scopes, I’ll take a quick look at several of them to help you determine if a CVLIFE rifle scope is in your future or not. Continue reading “CVLIFE Rifle Scopes: Inexpensive But Do They Work?”

STYRKA, which means “strength” in Swedish, makes several lines of binoculars. What makes them different or special enough that you would select a pair of STYRKA 8×42 binoculars over those of any other brand?

Spoiler alert: Nothing much.

Nothing within the binoculars themselves, that is. There is another “feature” of these optics that is seriously worth considering though. That’s the warranty. Continue reading “STYRKA 8×42 Binoculars: It’s All About the Warranty”

Virtually all major optics manufacturers – Swarovski, Leica, and Zeiss, to mention just a few – make rangefinder binoculars. Even Nikon has their own RifleHunter 1000. So why would anyone come out with another model like the Nikon LaserForce rangefinder binocular?

Let’s take a look at the LaserForce to see why Nikon would attempt such a feat. Was it worth their time and effort or not? Continue reading “Nikon LaserForce Rangefinder Binocular Review: The Latest and Greatest in 2018?”

Millett Rifle Scopes Overview: High Quality in 5 Classes

You can put Millett rifle scopes into 5 classes of optics. At least, that’s what Millett itself does on their website. They group their several offerings into Designated Marksman, Tactical, Long Range, Tactical Red Dot, and SP Red Dot classes.

You could probably argue that some of those groupings could be combined, but since the makers see them that way, I’ll stick to the same arrangement in this overview and review.

All but a few of the current Millett models have a listing on Amazon. If you’re in a hurry and just want to check the pricing and availability of these Millett scopes at Amazon, you can click (tap) the links in the list below. Eyeskey 8×42 Binoculars Review: What a Mess!

Finding the right Eyeskey binoculars can be an adventure. To the best of my knowledge, Eyeskey is a Chinese company that is able to make optical equipment very cheaply. For example, you will usually be able to find Eyeskey 8×42 binoculars for less than $200.

This is not to say that they are poorly made. Apparently many people are very satisfied with their purchases. It’s just that finding the pair of Eyeskey binoculars that you really want can take a lot of work because the company doesn’t do a good job of telling you which model is which. In some cases, model numbers seem to be non-existent, making it very hard to tell which pair you’re looking at.

In this Eyeskey binoculars review, I’m going to try to clean up this mess as much as possible for 5 pairs of 8×42 Eyeskey binoculars. You can let me know later if you think I succeeded in this task. Continue reading “Eyeskey 8×42 Binoculars Review: What a Mess!”

You may already be familiar with some of the other “-vid” optical offerings from Leica – the Geovids, Trinovids, Ultravids, Duovids, and Monovids. The latest and possibly greatest additions to the family are the Noctivid binoculars which come in the standard 8×42 and 10×42 sizes.

I’ll cover both of these sets of binoculars, which debuted in 2016, in this review as they are nearly identical. In fact, there are only 2 specifications that are different, and one of these is reportedly incorrect. Continue reading “Leica Noctivid Binoculars Review: The Latest and Greatest?”
